• Working hours: Full Time
• Working Location: Hybrid/Berlin or Remote in the European Union
• Reports to: SVP Engineering
• Desired start date: As soon as possible

YOUR CHALLENGE AT WIRE

• Build and lead the Platform Engineering team at Wire, overseeing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) as well as Developer Experience (DevEx) initiatives, driving performance, and fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and innovation
• Technical Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented SRE and DevEx engineers
  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations
  • Define and lay the foundation for Wire’s internal Developer Platform
  • Work closely with Wire’s Architecture guild to shape and redefine our cloud platform, providing the foundation for a successful SaaS offering
• Site Reliability Engineering
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our platform and services.
  • Further develop and improve existing monitoring, alerting, and incident response strategies.
  • Continuously improve system architecture and infrastructure to handle growing scale and complexity.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to design and implement scalable and reliable systems.
• Developer Experience
  • Enhance the developer experience by streamlining existing development workflows, tools, and processes.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable software delivery.
  • Advocate for best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to developers to help them overcome challenges and improve productivity.
• Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Develop and execute a roadmap for Platform Engineering, aligned with company objectives.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices, ensuring our technology stack remains cutting-edge.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to prioritize and deliver key initiatives.
• Collaboration and Communication
  • Act as a bridge between Platform Engineering and other teams, ensuring alignment and effective communication.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Present technical concepts and project updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Strong background in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related fields.

• Strong experience with cloud platforms and container orchestration (Kubernetes).

• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages.

• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).

• Experience with observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).

• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
