Alex Pence

Alex Pence, PE, SE, has extensive experience in structural engineering, currently serving as the Structures Automation & Load Rating Unit Supervisor at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation since March 2012. In this role, Alex oversees bridge load rating analysis, weight limit postings, and oversize-overweight permitting, while also developing support for engineering software and hardware tools. Previous positions at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation include Structures Management Unit Supervisor and Bridge Rating Engineer, where Alex was instrumental in local bridge programs and freight policy coordination. Prior experience includes work as a Structural Engineer at KJWW Engineering Consultants, focusing on various building types, and as a Research Assistant with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where Alex contributed to seismic and structural engineering research. Alex holds both a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
