Craig Thompson

Craig Thompson has extensive experience in transportation and legislative affairs. Currently serving as the Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation since January 2019, Craig oversees key initiatives and policies in the state's transportation sector. Prior to this role, Craig was the Executive Director of the Transportation Development Association of Wisconsin from May 2007 to January 2019, where responsibilities included providing timely information and analysis on various transportation issues for over 400 member organizations. Earlier in career, Craig held positions at the Wisconsin Counties Association, first as Legislative Director managing a comprehensive legislative program for 72 counties, and as Legislative Associate focusing on health, human services, and transportation legislation. Craig earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison between 1988 and 1991.
