Dan McDaniel has extensive work experience in the field of information security and enterprise architecture. Dan started their career in 2005 at Intuit, where they focused on developing a global credit card processing system and implementing security policies and governance. From 2007 to 2012, they worked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, leading the Enterprise Architecture program. At T-Mobile from 2012 to 2014, Dan led the design and implementation of information security architecture and conducted regulatory compliance assessments. Dan then moved on to Alaska Airlines, where they served as a Senior Enterprise Architect, responsible for technology strategy, cybersecurity, and architecture assessments. Currently, Dan is working as the Chief Architect and Information Security Officer at Wizards of the Coast, overseeing the company's digital transformation strategy and ensuring secure growth.
Dan McDaniel attended Azusa Pacific University from 1984 to 1985, where they studied Computer Science. Prior to that, they attended Ventura College from 1980 to 1983, although the specific field of study is unknown. In terms of additional certifications, Dan McDaniel obtained the following: Certified Data Scientist from TDWI in December 2019, Certified Train the Trainer + from PrepMasters in May 2005, and they are a Microsoft Certified Trainer. Additionally, they have a certification in TOGAF 9 from The Open Group, although the month and year of obtaining this certification are unknown.
