Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Banking, Regulatory Compliance Director to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring our operations adhere to all relevant regulations, managing risks effectively, and fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance programs, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring that our practices align with industry standards and legal requirements. The ideal candidate will be strategic and tactical, and they will roll up their sleeves and help their team get the job done, particularly during peak season for gift cards.  This position reports directly to the General Counsel and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and innovative organization.

Responsibilities:

Compliance Management:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Own the definition and operation of Wolfe's business customer onboarding process (AML/KYB/KYC).
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting the gift card industry and ensure timely adaptation of company policies.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, and provide strategic advice to senior management.

Risk Management:

  • Work cross-functionally with members of the Information Security and Fraud teams to Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with the company's operations.
  • Develop risk management strategies and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Monitor and report on risk exposure and effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee daily compliance and risk operations to ensure they are executed effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with various departments to integrate compliance and risk management into all aspects of the business.
  • Lead and mentor a team of compliance and risk professionals.

Training and Education:  

  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure employees understand compliance and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and risk awareness throughout the organization.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on compliance and risk management activities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for business partners (e.g., issuing banks, processors, etc.), regulatory bodies and external auditors.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders regarding compliance and risk issues.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate Wolfe’s values of integrity, teamwork, care, excellence, and drive.  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CRCM) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance and risk management, with at least 3 years in a management role, preferably within the financial services or gift card industry.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in compliance and risk management.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state laws and regulations governing gift cards, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 (CARD Act), USA PATRIOT Act, and other relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience advising on compliance issues related to gift card programs, including registration requirements, anti-money laundering (AML) controls, and consumer protection laws.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective compliance and risk management programs.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.  Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in using compliance and risk management software and tools.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to roll up their sleeves and help their team get the job done, throughout the year and particularly during peak season for gift cards.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
