Description:
The Healthcare Career Pathways Research Assistant will report to the Senior Research Analyst in working on a research project investigating healthcare career pathways for women of color who start in entry-level healthcare positions. This project is multi-pronged, including a landscape scan of healthcare career training programs, case studies of education and training programs, and interviews and focus groups of healthcare workers. The project is led by Women Employed but is in collaboration with multiple healthcare workforce partners and hospital/clinic coalitions representing healthcare systems in the Chicagoland area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Healthcare Career Pathways Research Assistant will assist in a variety of tasks related to data collection and analysis including conducting interviews and focus groups as well as transcribing data. Tasks may include fact checking, performing library and policy research, scheduling meetings/interviews/focus groups and handling relevant logistics, and regular attendance at research partner meetings. This position is
hybrid, with much of the work able to be done remotely, but focus groups and/or interviews will be conducted in a combination of online and in person.

Required Qualifications:
• Experience with qualitative research (conducting interviews and/or focus groups,
transcribing)
• Enrolled in (or graduated from) graduate program in economics, public health,
public policy, business, social work, statistics, social sciences, or other relevant field
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and experience with collaborative,
diverse teams
• Experience working in a hybrid environment, including use of Teams and/or Zoom
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Be able to attend occasional in-person meetings in the Chicago area
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with issues facing low-wage workers, and/or women of color
• Familiarity with healthcare workforce
• Familiarity with research coding and qualitative research software (e.g., NVivo,
Dedoose, etc.)

Position Type: Temporary 
Anticipated Start/End Date: May 15, 2024 through September 30, 2024 (dates are flexible)
Pay Rate: $22/hour

The Research Assistant will work part-time, averaging about 20 hours per week.
