UI Developer at Wonderstorm

Mal Kim has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the gaming industry. They started their career as a Full Time Intern in Communications at Defenders of Wildlife in 2010. They then worked as a Full Time Intern - Concept Artist at Softnyx in 2014 and as a Character Concept Artist at Mojo Game Studios from 2014 to 2015. In 2016, Mal was a Web Designer at eStarland before joining Imperium42 Game Studio as a 2D Artist from 2016 to 2018. They worked on the game Throne of Lies: Online Game of Deceit and managed their process independently. In 2017, Mal had an internship as a VR Dev Intern at Framestore, where they developed VR game prototypes and worked on a 360-degree video streaming demo. They also communicated with artists to optimize their assets for VR hardware. From 2018 to 2019, Mal worked as a UI/UX Designer at Filament Games. They then joined Cloud Imperium Games and held positions as an Associate UI Tech Designer from 2019 to 2021, where they worked on Star Citizen, and as a UI Developer II from October to November 2021. Currently, Mal is working as a UI Developer at Wonderstorm starting in November 2021.

Mal Kim earned a Master's Degree in Game Design from New York University between 2016 and 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Electronic & Time-based Media, with a focus on Game Design, from Carnegie Mellon University from 2012 to 2016. Mal Kim completed their high school education at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology from 2008 to 2012, although no specific degree or field of study was mentioned for this period.
