Michael MacKinnon

Associate | Design Leader at Woods Bagot

Michael Mackinnon has a diverse range of work experience in the architecture and design industry. Michael is currently working as a Design Leader at Woods Bagot since November 2021. Prior to that, they worked at MVRDV as a Project Leader and Architect from July 2020 to November 2021, where they were involved in various competitions, commercial and mixed-use buildings, education projects, and the transformation of a former Expo Pavilion into a co-working office building. Before joining MVRDV, Michael worked as a Project Architect at Tengbom from June 2017 to 2020, where they contributed to the design and documentation of Europe's largest lithium-ion battery factory and the first Northvolt battery demonstration line and R&D facility. Michael also served as a Design Manager at the City of Sydney from 2014 to February 2017, managing projects such as the Green Square Library & Plaza and the Museum Station Upgrade & Hyde Park South Cafe. In addition, Michael worked as a Project Architect at Smart Design Studio, where they were involved in the alterations and additions to a state heritage-listed townhouse. Michael also gained experience as a Design Tutor at the University of Melbourne and as an Architect at Gregory Burgess Architects and Studio Daniel Libeskind.

Michael Mackinnon has a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree from the University of Melbourne. Michael also has a Bachelor of Architecture (Exchange) degree from Politecnico di Milano and a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree from RMIT University. Additionally, they are a REGISTERED ARCHITECT certified by the NSW Architects Registration Board.
