Carol Anne Clayson has a diverse work experience in the fields of oceanography and climate change research. Carol Anne started their career as an Assistant Professor at Purdue University in 1995 and later became an Associate Professor and the Director of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Institute at Florida State University in 2002. In 2011, they joined the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) as an Associate Scientist with Tenure. During their time at WHOI, they held various positions including Director, Ocean and Climate Change Institute, Associate Director for Research Strategies, Senior Scientist, Director, Center for Air-Sea Interaction and Marine Atmospheric Sciences, and currently, they are the Director for Research Strategies and Innovation. Clayson is dedicated to creating and managing research strategies, fostering innovation, and developing partnerships to drive growth and institutional value at WHOI.
Carol Anne Clayson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Brigham Young University in the years 1983-1988. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering with a program in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, completing it at the University of Colorado Boulder from 1988 to 1995.
