Alexander Kostin is a seasoned petrophysicist with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as Principal Petrophysicist at Woodside Energy since July 2021, Kostin previously held various leadership positions at BHP from June 2010 to July 2021, including Exploration Manager for the Gulf of Mexico License, where responsibilities included play assessment, lead generation, and managing successful bids for multiple lease blocks. Other roles at BHP included Geoscience Supervisor and Development Geoscience Supervisor, managing teams that led technical work for drilling operations and lease sale activities. Prior experience at Schlumberger spanned nearly a decade, where Kostin held multiple roles including R&D Field Engineer and Petrophysicist, starting as a research assistant in a joint project with the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Kostin holds a Master’s degree in Applied Geophysics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and completed Executive Education at Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business, focusing on leadership and management.
