Science And Special Education Teacher at Woodward Academy

Dale Gruis is an experienced educator with a strong background in agricultural education and special education. Currently serving as a Science and Special Education Teacher at Woodward Academy since April 2020, Gruis has also worked as an Agriscience & Technology Instructor and FFA Advisor at Maquoketa Community School District since June 2018. Further teaching experience includes a role as a High School Science & Agriscience Instructor at St. Mary's in Storm Lake, where Gruis has been since August 2017. In addition, Gruis has been involved with the Iowa Department of Education since July 2000, consulting on high school and community college agriculture programs and serving as the State FFA and State PAS Advisor. Earlier career positions include an Ag Ed Instructor and FFA Advisor at St. Ansgar High School and Webster City Community Schools. Gruis holds a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Teacher Education from Iowa State University. Notably, Gruis was recognized as the National Agriscience Teacher of the Year in 1995.
