Katherine Chen

Katherine Chen currently serves as the Executive Director of the STEM Education Center at Worcester Polytechnic Institute since August 2017. Prior experience includes a 20-year tenure at Cal Poly State University, where roles spanned from Assistant Professor to Professor Emeritus, with leadership as Department Chair and faculty advisor to student societies. Chen's prior positions also include CSU STEM VISTA Supervisor at AmeriCorps, Visiting Scientist at Northwestern University, Consultant at Confluent Medical Technologies, Visiting Faculty at Michigan State University, and Staff Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in Materials Science & Engineering from Michigan State University.
