Why do we need a Senior Vice-President of Campaigns?

WorkMoney is a young, vibrant, growing organization. As we grow, one of our top priorities is to expand our efforts to advance policy change at the federal and state level that will improve the financial well-being of our members. We are looking for an experienced and effective campaigns strategist to design and lead our policy and electoral campaign efforts. We are a fast-paced start-up and are looking for an experienced professional who can effectively manage competing demands, collaborate to achieve results and independently lead with confidence and integrity. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a track record of successfully leading policy and electoral campaigns – from inception to victory – and has the skills and experience to build and lead a high impact campaigns team.

A typical day in the life of our Senior Vice President of Campaigns could look like:

  • Campaign Strategy
  • With the support of the policy team, identify emergent or existing federal, state policy and local campaign opportunities that will improve the financial well-being of WorkMoney members, raise the voice of everyday Americans and heighten organizational brand.
  • Identify federal and state electoral campaign opportunities in support of candidates who will fight for the financial well-being of everyday Americans.
  • Design campaign strategies by positioning WorkMoney appropriately (as initiator or supporter), identifying desired outcomes, developing a robust suite of campaign tactics, and matching financial and staff resources to campaign plans.
  • Campaign Execution
  • Oversee and coordinate the execution of campaign strategies and plans with the field, policy and communications teams, to ensure staff time, organizational resources and campaign tactics drive toward desired outcomes and achieve maximum impact.
  • Anticipate and attend to internal and external risks and roadblocks that may impact campaign effectiveness.
  • Partner with other leaders, teams and consultants – in particular the marketing and communications team and the member services team - to ensure the effective deployment of campaign tactics, aligned messaging, and effective implementation of policy wins.
  • Department Management
  • Lead and manage the campaigns department, which includes the field team; the policy, research and government affairs team; and the electoral team.
  • Provide professional development, coaching and mentorship to direct reports and department staff.
  • Develop and implement department cohesion, alignment and communication strategies.
  • Create and manage the campaigns department budget.
  • External Relations
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders to stay informed about allies’ priorities and strategies and identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Act as a key WorkMoney ambassador, presenting at conferences and attending external meetings and events as needed.
  • Organizational Leadership
  • Engage in cross-organizational strategizing, planning, budgeting and problem-solving as a member of the program leadership team.
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts by attending meetings with donors and contributing to donor proposals and reports.
