S. Amer Ahmed serves as the Lead Economist and Program Leader for the Human Development Practice Group at The World Bank, specializing in Bangladesh and Bhutan, since September 2008. Previous positions include Senior Economist, Economist, and various consulting roles at The World Bank and a consultancy at FAO from September 2012 to May 2013. Prior experience includes a Research Assistant role at the Center for Global Trade Analysis at Purdue University from August 2004 to August 2008, a Research Intern position at the International Labour Office in June 2003, and an intern role in the Health and Population Division at BRAC in June 2002. S. Amer Ahmed holds a Ph.D. and an MS in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University, as well as a B.A. in Economics from Wabash College.
