World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) seeks a talented and committed Director, Internal Communications to oversee and manage communication within our organization. 

The Director, Internal Communications will play a critical role in keeping our organization informed, engaged, and aligned. Working closely with senior executives, this position will be responsible for crafting and delivering clear, timely, and impactful messaging to all staff members. The Director, Internal Communications will ensure that the staff is well-informed about organizational updates, initiatives, and key developments, fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and shared purpose.

This role will report to the Chief Communications Officer and intended to be hybrid, based in Washington DC, with 2-3 days on-site per week when not traveling. This position requires occasional travel, including internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive internal communications strategies aligned with WCK's mission, values, and strategic objectives.
  • Work with a high level of independence to conduct research, produce content, develop key messages, coordinate feedback and finalize communications.
  • Develop employee news/intranet articles, emails, videos, podcasts, talking points, articles/blogs, social media posts and other forms of communication.
  • Proactively evaluate and recommend enhancements to existing material as well as year-over-year initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of communication trends and technology to identify and surface new communication opportunities and help ensure effective and innovative campaigns.
  • Create updates for a variety of channels, including email, video messages, and team meetings, to effectively communicate organizational updates, milestones, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to ensure consistency and alignment in messaging and to anticipate and address communication needs.
  • Manage the calendar for internal communications, ensuring timely delivery of messages and coordination with other organizational priorities.
  • Monitor feedback from staff and adjust communication strategies as needed to ensure effectiveness and engagement.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives on internal communications best practices, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of internal communication tools and platforms, ensuring accessibility and usability for our global staff and response corps members.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication strategies. Collect feedback and adjust communication plans accordingly.
  • Manage budgets associated with internal communication initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in internal communications, preferably in a global non-profit or humanitarian organization.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful internal communications strategies.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and compelling messages.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with senior executives and staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with communication tools and platforms, including email marketing software, intranet systems, and video production tools.
  • Passion for WCK's mission, current events, and humanitarian causes.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
