Marina Ruta has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and organizations. Starting in 2003, they worked as a Sales Engineer and then as an Internship R&D at Dow Chemical until 2005. From 2005 to 2009, Marina held the role of Research Assistant at EPFL. After that, they worked as a Project Coordinator at Vestergaard Frandsen from 2009 to 2010. Marina then joined UNEP as a Consultant from 2010 to 2011. Marina subsequently worked as a Senior Manager Chemicals Industry at the World Economic Forum from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, Marina became a Senior Manager at Novozymes before transitioning to a Consultant role at UNEP from 2014 to 2015. Additionally, they worked as a Consultant at The Ground_Up Project from January to June 2014. In 2018, Marina joined UCAN Partner as a Consultant and also started working at the World Economic Forum as a Business Engagement Lead - Center for Nature and Climate. In 2021, they took on the role of Lead - BiodiverCities by 2030 Initiative at the World Economic Forum, and in 2022, they became the Corporate Engagement Lead for the 1t.org initiative. Marina Ruta's education history is as follows:

From 1997 to 2003, Marina attended Politecnico di Milano and obtained a Diploma di Laurea in Chemical Engineering.

Between 2005 and 2008, Marina pursued a PhD at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in the field of Environment.

In 2010 and 2011, Marina attended the University of Geneva, where they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on International Organization.

In 2015, Marina received a certification from Yoga Alliance for completing a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Ashtanga Yoga.

In 2017, Marina attended the University of California, Berkeley, and completed a Capra Course in Systemic Thinking.

In 2018, Marina obtained a certification in Total Yoga Nidra - Foundations from Yoga Nidra Network.

Marina also holds additional certifications, including a Biomimcry Practitioner certification from Biomimicry Academy, obtained in December 2020, and a CAPM certification from the Project Management Institute.
