World Food Programme
Francesco Stompanato is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in data analytics and geographical information systems (GIS) within the humanitarian sector. Currently serving as the Head of the Research, Assessments and Monitoring unit at the World Food Programme since September 2014, Francesco has designed and implemented remote assessments to evaluate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on food security and produced reports on Venezuelan migrants in the region. Responsibilities also include utilizing satellite data for early warning and impact estimation of natural events. From August 2011 to July 2014, Francesco held the position of Leader of the GIS Development and Data Analytics unit and was responsible for the development of a Web GIS platform and managing the WFPGeoNode project. Prior experience includes roles as an IT Consultant at Reply and a Security Systems Engineer at Maticmind S.p.A. Francesco holds a Laurea Specialistica in Ingegneria delle Telecomunicazioni from Sapienza Università di Roma.
