Shawn M Bowen

Shawn M Bowen has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of information security and cybersecurity. Shawn M is currently serving as the SVP, Information Security (CISO) at World Fuel Services, a role they assumed in February 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of VP, Information Security (CISO) at the same company from March 2021 to February 2023.

Shawn has also worked as an Advisor at Daxa, Inc since September 2021 and as an ISC² CISSP Authorized Instructor at ISC² since November 2023. In addition, they have served as a Certified CISO Instructor at EC-Council since November 2018 and as a Board Director, Energy Sector Chief at InfraGard since November 2021.

Furthermore, Shawn has experience as a Venture Advisor at YL Ventures since July 2020 and as an IMA to Command Chief Master Sergeant/Senior Enlisted Advisor at the US Air Force Reserve from July 1997 to December 2021. Shawn M also held the role of Global Head of IT Security & Compliance (CISO) at Restaurant Brands International from March 2019 to March 2021.

Prior to their civilian career, Shawn served in the United States Marine Corps as the Chief Information Security Officer in Marine Corps Intelligence. Shawn M held this position from November 2010 to July 2015 and was responsible for directing the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Enterprise (MCISRE) Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Cybersecurity Program.

Additionally, Shawn has a wealth of experience in leadership and strategy roles, including their time as the Chief of Cybersecurity Integration (Special Advisor) at NGA from July 2015 to March 2019. In this role, they led the strategy and integration of cybersecurity for the agency and oversaw various divisions focused on training, policy creation, corporate communications, and more.

Shawn M Bowen has a diverse education history in the field of cybersecurity. In 2007, they obtained the CISSP certification from (ISC)². They also have a Certified CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) certification from EC-Council, which was obtained in 2017. In 2014, Shawn obtained certifications in ITIL v3, Scrum Product Owner, and Scrum Master. They have also completed various executive education programs, including Cybersecurity: The Intersection of Policy and Technology from Harvard Kennedy School in 2018, and Cybersecurity: Frontiers of Strategy & Policy from the University of Oxford in 2018. Additionally, Shawn has obtained several other certifications related to cybersecurity and continuous process improvement throughout their career.
