Tessa Tafua is an experienced professional in the fields of climate risk and project management. Currently serving as the Associate Project Support Officer for the South West Pacific at the World Meteorological Organization since March 2019, Tessa focuses on implementing projects under the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) Initiative to enhance early warning systems and weather services in Pacific Island Countries and Territories. Prior to this role, Tessa was the Programme Officer for Environment and Climate Change at UNDP from May 2015 to March 2019, managing a portfolio exceeding 30 million USD dedicated to climate change adaptation and mitigation in several Pacific nations. Tessa also held positions as a Scientific Officer in Geophysics and an Urban Management Officer at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment from June 2010 to May 2015, contributing to geophysical research and urban management efforts. Tessa holds a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science and Geography from The University of the South Pacific and a Foundation Certificate in Science from the National University of Samoa.
