Rajika Puri

Co-curator & Pre-performance Slide Presenter at World Music Institute

Rajika Puri is a seasoned artistic director and actor known for contributions to the performing arts sector. Since March 2011, Puri has served as co-curator and pre-performance slide presenter at the World Music Institute, guiding efforts to promote world music in New York and the U.S. As the artistic director and choreographer of Rajika Puri and Dancers since April 2005, Puri produces innovative dance-theatre performances that intertwine narrative with mythological themes. Puri’s extensive acting career spans numerous film and theater productions, with notable roles under directed by Mira Nair and Julie Taymor, while also developing a unique form of danced storytelling. Additionally, Puri co-curated the Indo American Arts Council's Erasing Borders Festival of Indian Dance from 2008 to 2017 and actively participates in various arts organizations. Academic achievements include multiple master's degrees in Social and Cultural Anthropology from New York University and Indian institutions.
