Layla Meftah is an experienced aquatic disease specialist, currently serving as the OIE focal point for aquatic disease at the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) since January 2015, while also working as a Senior Fish Pathologist at DMR-Bahrain since March 2008, focusing on the control of fish diseases through various biological disciplines. Previous experience includes a role as a Research Assistant at the University of Bahrain, where Layla applied PCR techniques and conducted research on date palm callus. Layla also completed a General Training Course at the Animal Wealth Directorate, where training involved veterinary pathology and care for small and large animals, as well as a pathology laboratory training program at Salmania Hospital. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology with a specialization in medicine from Lund University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Bahrain.
