Patrick Bastiaensen has extensive experience in animal health and development, currently serving as a Programme Officer at the World Organisation for Animal Health for the Sub-regional Representation for Eastern Africa, covering multiple countries in the region. Previously held positions include Programme Officer for Southern Africa at the same organization, and Regional Technical Assistant for the Pan-African programme for the Control of Epizootics at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Patrick's background also includes work as a Technical Assistant in animal health for the African Development Bank, an Expert in livestock development with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and technical assistance roles in Suriname and Belgium. Academic qualifications include a Master's degree in Animal / Human / Ecosystem Health from the University of Pretoria and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ghent University.
