Ralph Ossa has a diverse work experience in prestigious academic institutions and international organizations. Ralph currently holds the position of Chief Economist and Director of the Economic Research and Statistics Division at the World Trade Organization, starting in January 2023. Prior to that, they worked at the UZH Department of Economics as the Chairman of the Department of Economics from 2019 to January 2023, and as the Director of the Küehne Center for Sustainable Trade and Logistics.
Before joining UZH, Ralph Ossa served as the UBS Professor of Economics of Globalization and Emerging Markets from 2017 to 2019. Ralph also worked at the University of Chicago as an Associate Professor of Economics from 2012 to 2016, and as an Assistant Professor of Economics from 2008 to 2012. Ralph gained research experience as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University from 2007 to 2008.
Ralph Ossa pursued their education from 2003 to 2007 at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics. During this period, Ralph focused their studies in the Department of Economics.
