Carlos Madjri Sanvee

Carlos Madjri Sanvee is the current Secretary General at World YMCA. Carlos has held this position since January 1999. Prior to that, they were the Executive Secretary for Finances and Administration at World YMCA from January 1987 to December 1999. In this role, they were responsible for managing the finances of the organisation and relations with area organisations. Carlos also led the Inter Movement Support Services (IMSS), which aimed at supporting institution building of selected national chapters and area organisations of the YMCAs.

From January 2008 to August 2022, Carlos was the General Secretary (CEO) at Africa Alliance of YMCAs. In this role, they strengthened the Africa YMCAs and positioned the alliance as a youth movement at continental level, at Africa Union level and with civil society and foundations.

Carlos has been involved with the YMCA movement for over 35 years. Carlos is passionate about youth empowerment and developing strong leaders within the organisation. Carlos believes that the YMCA can make a difference in the lives of young people all over the world and is committed to its mission of building a better world for all.

Carlos Madjri Sanvee has a degree in physical sciences from Université de Lomé and a DHEPS in sociology from Université Lumière Lyon 2. Carlos is currently completing an executive MBA in leadership and change management at The Open University of Switzerland.
