Wouter Niekus is a co-founder of Toertje, an innovative app that encourages cycling among Dutch citizens by providing personalized routes and insights into health and environmental benefits, with the initiative being a collaboration between Fietsersbond, CanvasHeroes, and BAM. Niekus is also a co-founder of CanvasHeroes, a strategic digital agency in Amsterdam focused on creating partnerships and bridging digital products and brands with real-life experiences. Additionally, Niekus serves as an expert and team leader for WorldSkills Netherlands, promoting vocational education and inspiring young people. Previous experiences include co-founding Script.Digital, freelancing as a front-end and back-end developer, and working as a project manager and developer in various roles across different companies. Niekus holds an education from Grafisch Lyceum Amsterdam, completed between 2003 and 2006.

Sinds 2002 zet de stichting Skills Netherlands zich in ter promotie van het beroepsonderwijs en vakmanschap onder jongeren. Onze visie is om jongeren te inspireren en te motiveren voor beroepsonderwijs en vakmanschap. Vakwedstrijden staan hierbij centraal. Deze worden in samenwerking met onze partners georganiseerd op scholen of op beroepenevenementen. We geven jongeren hiermee de kans te excelleren in hun vak.
