Diane Neilson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Diane began their career in 2008 as a Therapeutic Day Treatment Counselor at National Counseling Group, Inc, where they managed a caseload of students with behavioral and emotional challenges. Diane also served as an Intensive In-Home Individual and Family Home-Based Counselor, providing psychiatric and mental health services to individuals and their families.
In 2013, Diane worked as a Victim Advocate at Armed Forces Services Corporation, where they addressed domestic abuse and sexual assault through advocacy, education, and training programs. Diane also served as a Family Advocacy Program Community Educator at Premier Consulting Management Services, offering life skills development and teaching the military community about healthy relationships.
Diane then transitioned to Jones4Fitness in 2013, working as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. In this role, they provided training routines and workouts for individuals and groups, conducted fitness assessments, and educated clients on health and fitness.
In 2015, Diane joined Phoenix House Counseling Center as a Primary Counselor, where they provided evidence-based and trauma-informed care for clients and families affected by substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Starting in 2018, Diane served in the United States Army Reserves, holding positions such as Signal Company Operations Officer and Signal Company Platoon Leader. In these roles, they planned and coordinated logistical and personnel support for network communications, supervised teams, and ensured reliable internet and phone capabilities for military operations.
Since 2016, Diane has been working at Wounded Warrior Project as a Project Odyssey Specialist and later as a Senior Project Odyssey Training Specialist. In these roles, they provided support and guidance to wounded post-9/11 veterans through the Project Odyssey program, which focuses on resiliency and camaraderie. Diane conducted assessments, evaluations, and workshops to meet the veterans' specific needs and goals.
Throughout their career, Diane has demonstrated a strong commitment to helping others, whether it be in the military, counseling, or fitness industries.
Diane Neilson attended Argosy University from 2012 to 2016, where they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During the same period, they also pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Exercise Science and Health Promotion: Sports Psychology at PennWest California, from 2013 to 2014. Prior to their postgraduate studies, Diane completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology at the University of Virginia, from 2005 to 2008.
In terms of certifications, Diane obtained several additional qualifications. In September 2021, they became a Tactical Strength & Conditioning Facilitator through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Diane achieved the status of Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) through the Board Of Behavioral Sciences in July 2019. Diane also holds the title of Certified Personal Trainer, certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, which they obtained in October 2018. In the same year, they earned the Corrective Exercise Specialization (CES) certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Additionally, Diane pursued professional development in the field of Critical Thinking through LinkedIn in November 2016, and completed a course on Managing Conflict with Fred Kofman, also through LinkedIn, in October 2016.
