Independence Program Manager at Wounded Warrior Project

Katy Axtell has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Katy worked at the Wounded Warrior Project from 2012 to the present, starting as an Executive Assistant and later becoming an Independence Program Specialist and Manager. Prior to that, they were Minister to Students at Murray Hill Baptist Church from 2009 to 2021. Katy also served as the Head Girl's Basketball Coach at Twin Lakes Academy Middle School from 2011 to 2013 and as a Workers' Comp Claims Manager at ClaimOne, LLC from 2011 to 2012. Katy was the Director of Operations and a Board Member at Shower Of Hope from 2009 to 2011, where they organized baby showers and provided resources for pregnant teen girls. Katy gained experience in the sports industry as an Executive Assistant in various departments of the United Football League from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, they worked at Texas A&M University from 2006 to 2008, serving as an Assistant to the Director of Operations for the Women's Basketball team and as a Student Worker and Manager for the team.

Katy Axtell, MA, CBIS, began their education at Texas A&M University from 2004 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management. Katy continued their education at Liberty University from 2015 to 2017, obtaining a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Human Services Counseling & Military Resilience. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) from the Brain Injury Association of America in September 2018.
