Matt started their career in the military, serving as a Military Police and later as a Field Artillery Officer in the US Army. After their military service, Millen worked as a Security Officer at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where they were responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students and faculty. Matt then transitioned to a role at the USO as a Center Manager, where they managed operational procedures, led a team, and developed relationships with military leadership and local businesses.

Millen also pursued further education, earning Summa cum laude graduate honors as a Graduate Student in Education at MidAmerica Nazarene University. In this role, they focused on creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment for their students, emphasizing personal responsibility, self-motivation, and curiosity.

Most recently, Millen joined the Wounded Warrior Project as an Outreach Specialist, connecting wounded service members and their families to resources and support through community events and networking opportunities. In this position, they focus on promoting the organization's values and enhancing team building and camaraderie within the veteran community.

Matt Millen has a diverse education history. Matt started their educational journey in 2012 by enrolling at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in History. During the same period, they also attended The University of Kansas, focusing on Army ROTC, Military Science, and Operations. Their commitment to education continued, and in 2020, they returned to MidAmerica Nazarene University to complete a Master of Education - MEd degree with a concentration in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies.
