Zhenyu Zhao

Zhenyu Zhao is an accomplished AI researcher with extensive experience in machine learning and natural language processing. Currently serving as an AI Researcher at WRITER since October 2025, Zhenyu focuses on long-context and memory for AI agents. Prior to this role, Zhenyu was a Member of the Technical Staff at Cohere, where contributions included building an enterprise agentic AI assistant and evaluating large language models. At Airbnb, Zhenyu held positions as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist, leading efforts to adapt LLMs and launching the company’s first virtual agent for customer support. Zhenyu's background includes data science roles at Microsoft and participation in Kaggle competitions, achieving top rankings. Zhenyu earned a PhD in Molecular Biophysics and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.
