Rebecca Wallace-Segall

Rebecca Wallace-Segall founded Writopia Lab in April 2007 and served as the Chief Executive Officer. Rebecca designed the organization's mission, no-barriers sliding scale model, and core instructional approach. Under their leadership, Writopia Lab expanded its reach and impact, working with thousands of children, teens, schools, and nonprofit partners across the country. In 2015, they spearheaded the establishment of Writopia's Training Institute, which serves the youth development sector and the Department of Education. In 2023, they led the organization's expansion into a youth-facing and professional learning-focused five school pilot with the NYCDOE Chancellor's Office. Additionally, Rebecca has contributed to education writing through publications and conference presentations that highlight the impact of Writopia and promote expertise, confidence, and passion in writing education. Rebecca also holds the position of Co-President on the Executive Board of Directors for Center School under the NYC Department of Education.

Rebecca Wallace-Segall has a Master's degree in Urban Education Policy from The Graduate Center, City University of New York, which they obtained in 2022. In 2021, they completed the Senior Leaders Program for Nonprofit Professionals at Columbia Business School, earning a certificate in Organizational Excellence with a focus on Organizational Leadership. In 2015, Rebecca also attended Harvard University's Executive Education program, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned.
