Adrian Ruiz has extensive experience in various roles within law enforcement and transportation security. Starting in 1991, they worked as an Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant for the Phoenix Police Department in different patrol assignments. From 2000 to 2004, they served as an Office of Administration Lieutenant. Adrian then became a Lieutenant responsible for the Central City Precinct operations and crime suppression programs. In 2006, Adrian worked as a Lieutenant in the Transit Enforcement Unit, supervising both bus and light rail security operations. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Lieutenant at the Phoenix Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau. In 2014, Adrian joined Valley Metro as the Director of Safety and Security, responsible for a comprehensive regional safety and security program. Adrian also became a Certified Safety & Security Director for the World Safety Organization in 2019. Adrian is a graduate of Valley Leadership Class 35.
Adrian Ruiz's education history begins in 1984 when they attended the University of Arizona, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design in 1989. From 1991 to 2012, they took various courses at the Phoenix Police Department, specializing in Phoenix Police and FEMA/DHS courses. In 2008, they enrolled at Webster University and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Business and Organizational Security Management in 2012. Most recently, in 2018, Adrian attended Arizona State University for the Bob Ramsey Executive Education-Certified Public Manager program, focusing on Leadership and Public Management.
