Mike Murillo

Reporter, Anchor at WTOP

Mike Murillo was bit by the radio bug at age 14, when he began his first part-time radio job.

In 2004, while still in college at the University of Central Florida, Mike started working as a news anchor and producer at AM 580 WDBO (Now News 96.5 FM) in Orlando. He joined the station weeks before four hurricanes hit the central Florida area. During and after the storms he found himself reporting from some of the hardest hit areas … dodging dangling street lights and playing a dangerous game of hop scotch over downed power lines to file reports.
