Karl Vrancken

Karl Vrancken is a seasoned professional in sustainability and circular economy, currently serving as the Chief Sustainability Officer at Indaver since October 2023. Vrancken is also a part-time professor of Waste Management and Circular Economy at the University of Antwerp, where involvement began in January 2005. With extensive experience in research and advisory roles, Vrancken is a member of the International Advisory Board at the Wuppertal Institute and the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency. Previous positions include Research Manager at VITO, where coordination of the circular economy research strategy was a key responsibility, as well as roles in sustainable materials and project management. Vrancken has contributed to initiatives addressing PFAS contamination and has been involved in various sustainability assessment programs. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Antwerp.
