Rajat Das

Senior Scientist II at WuXi Advanced Therapies

Rajat Das has an extensive work experience in the field of scientific research. Rajat is currently working as a Senior Scientist at WuXi Advanced Therapies since August 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as a Research Scientist starting from July 2016. In this role, they worked on characterizing and overcoming intrinsic T cell dysfunction in pediatric cancer patients to improve CAR T cell therapy. Rajat also served as a Faculty Research Associate at the University of Pennsylvania from April 2012 to 2016, where they conducted in vivo and in vitro experiments to study the effects of neonatal glutamate exposure on metabolic activity and gene expression in rats. Rajat also identified epigenetic alterations in liver cells caused by neonatal growth hormone ablation. Before that, Rajat worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania from 2010 to 2012, where they researched the molecular signal pathways of somatostatin analog octreotide and its impact on cytochrome P450 isoforms. Rajat also studied the effects of neonatal glutamate exposure on growth hormone and testosterone profiles. Rajat's earlier experiences include working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Fox Chase Cancer Center from September 2008 to October 2009, where they investigated the role of genetic mutations in non-small cell lung cancer and the impact of chemotherapy on nucleotide excision repair genes. Rajat also worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow at Moffitt Cancer Center from August 2006 to August 2008, where they developed in vitro assays for screening potential inhibitors for pancreatic cancer and studied the role of CalDAG-GEF1 in tumor promotion using transgenic mice models. Overall, Rajat Das has a diverse background in scientific research, with expertise in various aspects of cellular and molecular biology.

Rajat Das completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honors degree in Human Physiology from the University of Calcutta between 1994 and 1997. Rajat then pursued their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Human Physiology, with a focus on Immunology, Molecular biology, Biochemistry, and Endocrinology, from Vidyasagar University, which they completed between 1998 and 2000. Following this, Rajat further advanced their education by enrolling in Jadavpur University, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cancer Biology. During their PhD, Rajat's research focused on areas such as Anti-cancer Drug Development and Cancer Chemoprevention. This educational journey spans from 1994 to 2006.
