Li Xiong

VP, Head of Global Human Resources at WuXi Biologics

Li Xiong is the current VP and Head of Global Human Resources at WuXi Biologics. Li has over a decade of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, working most notably as an Associate Director at Ipsen/Baxalta/Shire from January 2008 to December 2019. In this role, Li led the process implementation team for various biological products, oversaw pilot plant operations, and supported the PD team with process alignment and manufacturability considerations. Li also served as the technical lead on cross-functional CMC teams for clinical and commercial programs, and managed a group of process engineers.

Prior to their work at Ipsen/Baxalta/Shire, Li was the Principal Scientist and Head of Downstream Process Development at another pharmaceutical company. In this role, they led the downstream purification group for the development and commercialization of porcine Factor VIII and other biological products. Li was also the project manager for multiple projects across multiple sites, and served as the SME for FDA and global regulatory filings and inspections. In addition, Li led process characterization studies, scaled-down model qualifications, resin lifetime studies, and viral clearance studies for various unit operations.

Li Xiong has a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Peking University. Li also has a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Peking University.

Li Xiong reports to Zhisheng (Chris) Chen, Chief Executive Officer. They work with Jing Li - SVP, Discovery Services, Angus Turner - VP, Global BD and Alliance Management, and Chiang Syin - Chief Quality Officer & SVP.
