Melissa Simpson, CPA, CIA, CGMA, has a diverse and extensive work experience. Melissa started their career at Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP in 2002 as an Audit Manager before moving on to the West Virginia University Foundation in 2012. At the foundation, they held various roles including Director of Internal Audit, Controller, and currently serves as the Associate VP of Finance and Assistant Treasurer. Their work experience demonstrates their expertise in finance, auditing, and leadership roles within both public accounting firms and nonprofit organizations.

Melissa Simpson, CPA, CIA, CGMA, obtained their Bachelor's degree in Accounting from West Virginia University, where they studied from 1995 to 1999. In addition to their degree, Melissa has also earned several professional certifications. Melissa became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in April 2000 from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Melissa further obtained the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. in April 2013. Lastly, Melissa became a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) in May 2014, also from the AICPA.
