Wilfredo Mateo has a strong background in manufacturing, science, and technology, with extensive experience in various pharmaceutical companies. Wilfredo began their career at Hewlett-Packard as a Manufacturing Development Engineer, where they played a key role in start-up activities and served as a team leader for a manufacturing work cell.
Wilfredo then moved on to Sterling/Nycomed Pharmaceuticals as an Engineering/Validation Specialist, where they were responsible for generating validation protocols and coordinating their execution for a Chemical Plant II Expansion project.
In 1995, Mateo joined Bristol-Myers Squibb as a Shift Supervisor/Engineer, overseeing production operations and ensuring compliance with regulations. In 2009, Mateo joined Pfizer as a Technology Platform Leader Director and later became a Process Development Leader. In these roles, they led reformulation and process development activities, directed clinical manufacture activities, and provided project management guidance to their team.
Mateo then worked at Sandoz as the Director of Manufacturing, Science, and Technology, where they were responsible for implementing technical improvement strategies and ensuring compliance, quality, and cost efficiency across the site product range.
Prior to their current position at XGen Pharmaceuticals DJB as a Senior Director of Manufacturing, Sciences and Analytical Technology (MSAT), Mateo worked at Emergent BioSolutions as a Manufacturing, Science, and Technology Director. In this role, they managed a range of projects and individuals, utilizing their technical background in various scientific disciplines to support technology transfer activities and post-commercialization improvements.

Wilfredo Mateo obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Chemical Engineering from RUM - Mayaguez and University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez between 1981 and 1986. Wilfredo also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering during the same period at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez.
