Hugh Hopper

Head Of Acoustics at XMOS

Hugh Hopper has a strong background in acoustics and noise and vibration engineering. Hugh is currently the Head of Acoustics at XMOS, a position they have held since January 2019. Prior to joining XMOS, Hopper worked at Ultrahaptics as the Acoustic Team Lead from June 2017 to December 2018. Before that, they spent several years at Dyson, starting as a Noise and Vibration Engineer from January 2012 to December 2014. Hugh then took on the role of Noise and Vibration Engineer - Advanced from January 2015 to January 2016, where they focused on developing novel acoustic technologies and implementing predictive tools. Finally, Hopper served as a Senior Noise and Vibration Engineer at Dyson from January 2016 to June 2017, during which they guided best practices in acoustics within cross-disciplinary teams of design engineers and researchers.

Hugh Hopper completed their education with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Acoustics and Music from the University of Southampton between 2005 and 2008. Hugh then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Acoustics at the same university from 2008 to 2012.
