Florin Schimbinschi, PhD

Florin Schimbinschi, PhD has worked in a variety of roles in the technology industry since 2007. Florin began their career as a Junior Developer at Gameloft, followed by a role as a NOC at Euroweb. In 2010, they were a Java Developer at Drugis.org, where they designed and developed a software platform that supported the automated discovery and meta-analysis of trial data. From 2011 to 2014, they were a Research Engineer at Singapore Polytechnic, and a Teaching Assistant at the University of Groningen. During this time, they were responsible for the initial evaluation of assignments, guiding students through experiments, and properly configuring software and hardware platforms. In 2014, they began their PhD at The University of Melbourne, and also became a Main Tutor for the Elements of Data Processing course. In 2019, they became a Machine Learning Engineer at LoopLearn, and in 2020, they were appointed Head of Machine Learning at XY Sense. In this role, they are responsible for Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Embedded Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and FPGA.

Florin Schimbinschi, PhD, obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Machine Learning & Data Mining from the University of Melbourne in 2017. Prior to that, they obtained an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Groningen in 2013. In 2015, they obtained a Membership from IEEE.
