Jeffrey Brock

Dean, School of Engineering & Applied Science at Yale University

Jeffrey Brock is the current Dean of the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Yale University. Prior to this, they served as the founding Director of the Data Science Initiative at Brown University from July 2016 to June 2018. In this role, they launched a one-year Masters program which graduated its first class of 27 students in 2018.

From January 2013 to July 2017, Brock was a Professor and Chair of the Department of Mathematics at Brown University. During their time as Chair, they oversaw a major renovation of the first floor to provide significant improvement to common space, an external review leading to the implementation of a new strategic plan for the Department involving major expansion at the postdoctoral and instructor level, and the launching of the Data Science Initiative. Jeffrey also oversaw the development of the Mathematics Department's Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, which led to new hiring at the tenure track level, and to the formation of a Diversity and Inclusion Comittee which currently plays a major role in addressing issues of diversity and inclusivity in the Department.

Jeffrey Brock received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Yale University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Jeffrey Brock works with Robert Blocker - Dean, School of Music, Deborah Berke - Dean, School of Architecture, and Lynn Cooley - Dean, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Jeffrey Brock reports to Scott A. Strobel, Provost.
