Joerg Nikolaus, Ph.D., is a highly skilled researcher and director in the field of membrane biophysics, currently serving as the Director of the Yale West Campus Imaging Core at Yale University since February 2019. With a strong background in calcium-triggered SNARE-mediated membrane fusion, Nikolaus has effectively managed the Imaging Core Facility, expanding its user base and providing hands-on training for various microscopy techniques. Prior to this role, Nikolaus held positions as an Associate Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Yale University School of Medicine, focusing on complex membrane interactions and their implications in neurotransmitter release. Nikolaus completed a postdoctoral position at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where multiple projects on fluorescent markers and lipid properties were pursued. Education includes a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and postdoctoral training in Membrane Biophysics at Yale University.
