Jaz Fenton has a diverse work experience that spans over a decade. They are currently Design Lead at Sharma Brands since March 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior UX/UI Designer at the same company from March 2022 to March 2023.
Before joining Sharma Brands, Jaz was a Co-Founder of Yellow Beauty from January 2016 onwards.
Jaz has also worked at Shopify as a Product Designer from September 2014 to October 2016. They were part of the product team that shipped the first iteration of Shopify Home and contributed to designing feed cards and analytics sidebar for Shopify Home. They played a role in defining and solving complex merchant problems.
In 2014, Jaz worked as a Program Assistant at Algonquin College, where they provided assistance to Interactive Multimedia post-grad students with various technical skills, including PHP, JavaScript, Flash, After Effects, and WordPress.
From June 2012 to August 2013, Jaz worked as a Web Content + Comms Coordinator at the Information and Communications Technology Council. They were responsible for writing, editing, and publishing online content, performing quality assurance testing for online applications, and communicating with developers to ensure project progress.
Jaz also has experience working at the Department of National Defence as an Internal Communications Assistant, Co-op. They researched, edited, and wrote for the department's online news publication, updated and published web content using TeamSite, and provided training sessions to employees on TeamSite.
In 2009, Jaz worked as a Marketing Assistant, Co-op at 4Point Solutions. They were involved in writing content for various marketing materials and updating the company's Intranet with new content.
In addition, Jaz has also worked as a Coach/Counselor at Madawaska Volleyball Camps in 2007 and as a Local Official/Referee at Volleyball Canada from September 2006 to August 2008.
Jaz Fenton completed their high school education at Glebe Collegiate Institute from 2003 to 2007, earning a High School Diploma. In 2007, they enrolled at the University of Ottawa, where they studied English and pursued an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with a Specialization in English until 2011. During their time at the university, Jaz Fenton also participated in a co-op program. In 2011, they had the opportunity to study abroad at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where they focused on English Language and Literature for a brief period. In 2013, Jaz Fenton continued their education by pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Interactive Multimedia at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, which they completed in 2014.
