Joe Kenney has a diverse range of work experience across various industries. Joe started their career as a Research Assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where they developed software for shape analysis. Joe then worked as a Community Faculty at Metropolitan State University and later as a Graduate Student at the University of Minnesota.
After completing their education, Joe joined the National Security Agency as an Applied Research Mathematician, focusing on mathematical research. Joe then transitioned to Adventium Labs as a Research Scientist, conducting research in the field of cybersecurity.
In 2014, Joe joined Nevelex Corporation as a Software Development Team Lead, where they designed and developed multi-threaded programs for satellite television set-top boxes. Joe utilized programming languages such as C/C++ and Java.
Joe's next role was with the United States Department of Defense as a Software Engineer. Joe worked on software development projects until 2020 when they joined the Space Telescope Science Institute as a Senior Software Engineer.
From 2021 to 2023, Joe worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a SystemsDev Engineer II, contributing to the development and maintenance of systems. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Software Engineer at Yellow Duck Technologies, Inc.
Throughout their career, Joe has gained expertise in software development, mathematical research, and cybersecurity.
Joe Kenney completed their educational journey with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota. Joe studied at the University from 2002 to 2008. Prior to that, Joe obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science, from Carnegie Mellon University. Joe attended Carnegie Mellon from 1995 to 1999.
In addition to their academic degrees, Joe Kenney also acquired several certifications. Joe obtained the certification of Neo4j Certified Professional from Neo4j in June 2020. In 2017, they achieved the certification of Certified Developer - Associate Level from Amazon Web Services. Furthermore, in November 2012, Joe obtained the GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester certification from the Global Information Assurance Certification.
