Marjaana Kokkonen is an experienced environmental professional currently serving as a Ministerial Adviser at the Ministry of the Environment of Finland, focusing on international and EU affairs and representing Finland in various global environmental initiatives. Previous roles include Desk Officer for UNEP, UN Habitat, and the Convention on Biological Diversity at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, as well as management of development cooperation projects in Nepal. Marjaana's extensive background includes work as a Consultant and Programme Specialist at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, along with earlier positions in research and volunteer work related to environmental conservation in Guatemala and Mexico. Marjaana holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Hydrobiology and environmental sciences from the University of Helsinki.
