A. Dexter Samuels

A. Dexter Samuels is a board member at YMCA of Middle Tennessee and has been with the organization since January 2005. A. previously worked as an associate vice president for student life/associate professor (tenured) at Tennessee State University from January 2003 to December 2014. Prior to that, they were an adjunct professor at Aquinas College in Nashville, TN from January 1998 to December 2005. In this role, they delivered instruction in business management and served on the curriculum review committee. A. also worked as the director of the Title VI office/division of civil rights at the Tennessee Department of Transportation from January 1998 to December 2005, where they were responsible for the overall planning and development of all TDOT programs and services related to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

A. Dexter Samuels has a doctor's degree in philosophy in public administration from Tennessee State University, a master's degree in science in healthcare administration from Western Kentucky University, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Michigan State University.
