Janeine Spencer Sphr

Janeine Spencer SPHR, SCP has over 18 years of diverse work experience in human resources. Janeine is currently serving as the Chief People & Culture Officer at the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. Prior to this, Janeine worked as the Interim VP of Human Resources at Dollar Tree Stores.

Janeine held the position of Senior Human Resources Manager at Amazon, where they served as a strategic and hands-on business partner for a fulfillment center with 2,200 associates. Janeine played a critical role in executing people initiatives, providing internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.

Before joining Amazon, Janeine worked at Payless ShoeSource as an HR Director and HR Business Partner. Janeine provided HR support to various client groups across different regions and focused on building strategic relationships, ensuring consistent application of policies, and identifying development opportunities.

Janeine also has experience working as an HR Director at Windows Catering Company, and as a Global HR Administrative Officer at the Academy for Educational Development. Janeine started their career as an HR Assistant at J.E. Robert Companies and Prime Hospitality Corporation.

Throughout their career, Janeine has demonstrated a strong ability to drive organizational growth, reduce turnover, and strategically develop initiatives supporting employee engagement and satisfaction.

Janeine Spencer SPHR, SCP obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from James Madison University in 2004. Janeine then pursued an M.A. in Human Resource Management at The Catholic University of America from 2008 to 2010. In terms of certifications, they obtained the SPHR certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI in 2014. Janeine also achieved the SHRM-SCP certification from SHRM in the same year. Additionally, they obtained the DDI Facilitator certification from Development Dimensions International in 2014. Janeine further enhanced their expertise by becoming a Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner from Prosci in 2022.
