Derek Gent

Derek Gent currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of YMCA-YWCA Vancouver Island, a multifaceted organization involved in health, fitness, aquatics, childcare, and various community-oriented programs. Prior to this role, Derek held several positions at Vancity, including Executive Director of the Vancity Community Foundation and Investment Manager at Vancity Capital Corporation, where leadership focused on strategic direction and impact investments. Derek has also contributed to the community development sector through roles at Coast Capital Savings, BRAC, and as a management consultant at Synergy Management Group. Academic achievements include an MBA from Queen's University, a BA with distinction in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Alberta, and ongoing education in international development and community development finance from multiple institutions.
