John Houweling

John Houweling is an accomplished leader in data, analytics, and geographic information services, currently serving as the Director of Data, Analytics & Visualization Services for York Region since July 2017. Notable achievements include spearheading the Data and Analytics Master Plan, establishing the DATA Co-op to facilitate collaboration among 14 organizations, and launching the Digital Academy to enhance digital skills across the Region. Houweling has a strong background in geographic information systems, having previously held roles as Director of Geographic Information Services and Director of Geomatics at York Region, where significant initiatives such as the Self-Serve Data Depot and the first GIS Multi-Year Action Plan were developed. Prior experience includes serving as Regional Director at Esri Canada, where revenue growth was significantly achieved.
