Head Of The School Of Education, Language And Psychology at York St John University

Rachel Wicaksono has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Rachel started their career as an English and Music Teacher at Auckland House School in 1987. Rachel then moved on to IKIP PGRI Teacher Training College, where they worked as a Teacher Trainer from 1989 to 1991. Following this, Rachel served as the Director at The British Institute (TBI) from 1991 to 2005. Since 2005, they have been associated with York St John University, initially as the Head of the Department of Languages and Linguistics until 2019, and presently as the Head of the School of Education, Language and Psychology.

Rachel Wicaksono's education history includes a wide range of qualifications and degrees. In 1984 to 1987, they attended the University of Oxford and obtained a BA in English Language and Literature. Rachel continued their studies at the same university and completed their MA (Oxon) in English Language and Literature, General. In 1987, they also attended the International House in London where they obtained a RSA/UCLES Certificate TEFLA, specializing in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language. For a short period in 1991, Rachel attended the Bell School in Norwich and earned an RSA/UCLES Diploma TEFLA, specializing in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language/ESL Language Instruction. Rachel has also pursued higher education at IOE - UCL's Faculty of Education and Society, where they completed an MA in TESOL. Rachel is currently working towards a Doctor of Education (EdD) at the same institution.
