Peter Firth has significant work experience in various finance and leadership roles. Peter started their career as an auditor at KPMG from 1995 to 2000. Peter then joined TXU as a Revenue Systems Manager, responsible for designing and building revenue systems. From 2002 to 2005, they worked at TXU Australia as the Head of Network Regulation.

Peter then moved to SP AusNet, where they held multiple roles including Head of Strategy and Business Planning, Program Director for Advanced Metering Infrastructure, and Head of Business Growth.

In 2007, Peter joined United Utilities as the Group Financial Controller for Contracting Services, responsible for overseeing finance operations in UK, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Australia. Peter later became the Finance Director for United Utilities Electricity Services, leading the financial control of a ~£1bn contracting business. Peter also played a key role in the sale of UUES to Electricity North West, contributing to due diligence and the development of Sale and Purchase Agreements.

After their tenure at United Utilities, Peter joined Electricity North West Limited as the Head of Business Performance. Finally, in 2011, they became the Head of Finance for Kelda Group at Yorkshire Water, overseeing all finance aspects and leading initiatives such as restructuring finance to centralize management accounting and creating dedicated business partners.

Throughout their career, Peter Firth has demonstrated expertise in finance, business planning, strategic leadership, and project management.

Peter Firth received a post-graduate diploma in business from Melbourne Business School in 2006. In 2003, they completed a Strategic Leadership Programme at Melbourne Business School. Prior to that, they obtained an ICAEW ACA qualification as a Chartered Accountant from ICAEW in 1998. In 1995, Peter earned their BEng degree in Control Engineering from The University of Sheffield. Their secondary education took place at Culcheth High School from 1983 to 1991, where they focused on Pure and Applied Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.
